This historic Sag Harbor home, built in 1840, was owned by the great philanthropist Mrs. Russell Sage. Her great contributions to the Village of Sag Harbor included the John Jermain Library, Pierson High School, and Mashashimuet Park. Once located on Main St, this historic home was moved by horses to 28 Palmer Terrace in 1910, and its original foundation was disassembled and rebuilt at its current location. Palmer Terrace was opened in 1890, making 28 one of the oldest classic homes on the street. A significant addition was completed in 1910, creating a secret staircase and bedroom still present today. In 2001, another addition offering a beautiful, large first-floor primary and a solarium-style living room. Today, this beautiful home totals almost 2,989 square feet, which is rare for the historic district. Very few properties this rich in history become available, and very rarely on this magnificent street.
